The Cary New Music Performance Fund is designed to support new music activity by small-budget, grassroots, and emerging organizations whose opportunities for composers are a valuable contribution to the total arts community. The program is administered by Meet The Composer, with leadership support from the Mary Flagler Cary Charitable Trust.
The program provides general operating support to music organizations that demonstrate excellence in innovative new music programming and in performance of music by living composers. Music organizations with an annual budget of $600,000 or less and which reside in New York City's five boroughs are eligible to apply. Awards will range from $3,000 to $10,000 each. The funds can be used for any purpose that supports the mission of the organization and promotes new music and composers.
Eligible organizations are those which focus primarily or exclusively on new music, including in significant measure the work of living composers, improvisers, sound artists, or singer/songwriters. For the purposes of this program, organizations may include ensembles, collectives, and non-commercial concert venues or presenters. There are no restrictions on the style or genre of music presented.
To be eligible, organizations must have been in continuous operation for three or more years, have a minimum of three years' experience performing or producing events in New York City featuring new music, and have an annual budget of $600,000 or less, on average, over the last three years.
